The concept
The project explored how Vudu could fit into a broader Walmart experience. The proposal, called the Walmart HUB or Project 34 on the original page, brought together news, entertainment, consumer products, Vudu and other transactional video services, subscription video, live TV, and one-click consumer product purchases.
Design inputs
The original page lists family-friendly features and parental controls, subscription video, shoppable ads connected to Walmart e-commerce, account migration, live TV, and a purpose-built operating system among the areas considered. These were project assumptions and design inputs, not all confirmed launch features.
Outcome recorded on the original page
The original page says the concept was presented to Vudu and Walmart executives and received an $18 million budget to proceed with development. It also says a minimum viable product was created over the following year and a half, while a standalone operating system was not included in launch scope.
