The need

A survey received 661 responses from VUDU customers with 100 or more EST titles. People used Wishlist to save titles, but it offered only one place and limited ways to sort and filter. Customers wanted to find titles, create personal groupings, and organize collections visually.

The design challenge

The work called for a usable system for organizing content across web, native apps, and living room devices. The design needed to support sorting by genre, rating, or movie and TV; custom lists; unbundling titles from bundled offers; merchandising; and different input constraints across devices.

The work

I led the product design from research and ideation through UX and UI, developer handoff, design polish, and post-launch analysis. The work explored custom lists and ways to organize titles, with attention to platform-specific patterns such as web drag and drop, living-room remote navigation, and feature parity on native apps.

Results recorded on the original page

The page reports a 25% increase in user engagement and satisfaction on Day 1, and says 57% of “whales” adopted the feature and created three or more lists. It also describes positive feedback after launch.
